From the Editor
Again, we come to you with another edition of The Bible Guys. We are nearing the end of the year 1999, and this has been a year for which I am most thankful.
As you have followed throughout these months, God has blessed us with some wonderful fellowship and understanding. My heart rejoices as I reflect on this year, and so much more as I look to God’s promises for the immediate future. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. When I look to Dec. 31, I feel no trepidation ... only comfort. Oh, I do not know what will happen at the power plants, the airports, or the Pentagon, but I know that we serve Jehovahjireh: the great provider.
By the way, we will be greeting the New Year in His house. All are invited to meet us at our Worship Center at 9:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve as we worship and fellowship as 2000 begins. Let’s start the year off right: in the house of God, with His children in praise and thanksgiving.
I am thankful to God for our continued fellowship with the congregations of Defensores de la Fe and Slavic Pentecostal Church, and others. I was able to make the ministers’ prayer meeting for the first time recently, and my heart was made glad. This weekly meeting, which takes place Thurdays in Hadley, MA is attended by ministers from various Bible-believeing Christian churches, including our own. Although my work schedule prevents me from regularly attending, I am glad that Pastor Eldon McNabb can.
We thank the Lord, also, for working out Bro. Pari Hoxha’s situation with his immigration status. He was recently granted asylum and the right to remain in the U.S. permanently. Praise God for meeting his needs. I hope to be able to include Pari’s testimony in next month’s edition.
The calendars will be available next month, so get your orders in now (an order form is included in this issue). This is the fourth edition, continuing with the theme of "Strangers and Pilgrims." The artwork this year will feature some of the patriarchs named in Hebrews 11.
The fall issue of Çunat e Biblës (The Bible Guys in Albanian), is completed and will be sent out before the end of the month. Bro. Pari made a special issue dealing with some of the traditions associated with Christmas: their pagan origins and their "Christianization." It was well done and very informative. I’m sure that we would all do well to know the source of "Christian" practices.
Due to our close relationship with Pastor Sánchez and his church, we will now be able to publish in Spanish. Beginning January 2000, we will be publishing Hombres Bíblicos (The Bible Guys) bi-monthly.
Bro. and Sis. Lozko, now living in Erie, PA, recently visited us and have expressed their plans to return here around the beginning of the year. Let us keep them in our prayers, that the Lord will help them sell their house quickly.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving and God bless.
